The cricket ball is a red leather ball used in the sport of cricket. It is roughly spherical, with a circumference of 22.4 to 22.9 centimeters (8.8 to 9.0 in) and a weight of 156 to 163 grams (5.5 to 5.8 oz). The ball is made of four layers: an inner core of cork, a layer of rubber, a layer of string, and an outer layer of leather. The leather is usually tanned and dyed red, and the ball is stitched together with white or red thread.
