Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a 22-yard pitch with a wicket at each end. The game's objective is for one team, the batting side, to score runs by hitting a ball bowled by the opposing team, the fielding side, and running between the wickets, or hitting the ball to the boundary of the field. The fielding side attempts to prevent the batting side from scoring runs and dismiss batsmen.
